Welcome to our Whitebeet Issue Tracker!

Thank you for taking the time to contribute to our project by submitting an issue. Before you proceed, please take a moment to read through the following guidelines to ensure smooth communication and effective issue resolution.

Before Posting

  • Refer To Our Wiki: We address some of the most common issues in our wiki. Please check it before posting your issue to make sure your problem hasn't already been addressed in it.

  • Provide Details: Clearly describe the problem you're encountering. Include relevant context, steps to reproduce, and any error messages.

  • Be Respectful: Treat others with respect and professionalism. Offensive language, personal attacks, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.

Issue Reporting

  • Title: Use a descriptive title summarizing the problem concisely.

  • Template: Utilize our provided templates to structure your issue effectively. Failure to do so may result in your issue being closed.

  • Reproducibility: If applicable, provide steps to reproduce the issue reliably. This helps our team understand and address the problem efficiently.

  • Provide Logs: Include relevant logs and error messages to help diagnose the issue accurately. We won't be able to help without the necessary logs. Please see refer to this guide on how to create log files.

Engagement

  • Follow-up: Stay engaged with the discussion after posting. Respond to questions or clarifications to facilitate quicker resolution.

  • Feedback: Provide constructive feedback and clarification when requested by our team.

  • Patience: Understand that our team is working hard to respond as quickly as possible. Be patient and respectful during the resolution process.

Closing Issues

  • Resolution Confirmation: If your issue is resolved, confirm it by responding. This helps maintain an organized tracker.

  • Reopening: If the problem persists or was not adequately addressed, feel free to reopen the issue with additional information or clarifications.

Important Notes

  • Concerning Log Files: Please note that complete and accurate log files are crucial for us to help you with your issue. In case log files are missing we may close your issue. Note that we do not accept screenshots as log files. Please always attach them as either a txt file or in case of wireshark or spi logs use the corresponding log file format.

  • System support: Note that we do not offer FreeV2G support for windows systems. This is a decision we took as windows support adds an incredible amount of support time for us that would otherwise go directly into issue resolution. If you're using FreeV2G on a windows system please consider switching to a linux system. Note that we also do not offer support for virtual machines. In case of ethernet issues please reproduce your issue on a native Debian 12 system. In case of SPI please use a Raspberry PI 4 system. Please note that this only applies to FreeV2G. If you're developing your own host application on a windows based system, feel free to reach out to us in case you encounter any issues.

Thank You!

Your contributions are invaluable to us. By adhering to these guidelines, you help us maintain an efficient and welcoming community. If you have any questions or need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to our team.

Note: These guidelines are subject to change. Please refer to the latest version before contacting us about a potential issue.
